How do I make a complaint about an Osteopath?
The Board, under the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act 1999 is empowered to investigate complaints received about Queensland registered Osteopaths.
To lodge a complaint about a registered Osteopath, it is necessary to provide the Board with written details. The Board may be required under section 51 of the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act 1999 to refer the matter initially to the Health Quality and Complaints Commission (the Commission).
When lodging a complaint about an unregistered person practising, it is necessary to provide the Board with written details.
Details which the Board will need when a complaint is lodged are as follows:
- the Osteopath's name;
- if the Osteopath's name is not available, the name of the practice where the incident took place;
- the date of the incident;
- the type of treatment received;
